    Upper secondary qualifications giving access to higher education

    Cost of studying in Lithuania.

    Tuition fees

    Average tuition fees in institutions of higher education depend on the area of study and the study cycle. The cost of studies in higher education institutions is, on average, between EUR 1,000 and EUR 5,300 per year for bachelor’s studies, between EUR 2,200 and EUR 6,500 per year for master’s studies and between EUR 7,100 and EUR 8,500 per year for doctoral studies.

    Since higher education is notoriously costly in most parts of the world, more than three-fourths of international students in Lithuania agree that they get their buck – with reasonable tuition fees for the highest quality of studies and generous scholarships for high-quality education. 

    Scholarships

    In Lithuania, there are different scholarship opportunities. The State, institutions of higher education and international scholarship programs offer scholarships. Each higher education institution also has its own scholarship funds and financing schemes on the basis of which one-time awards or other types of awards are awarded to students who meet certain institutional funds requirements. Lithuanians living abroad and expatriates (children, grandchildren, grandchildren of expatriates who lived abroad for more than three years and began studying in Lithuania at least in the ninth grade). This scholarship, including holidays, is awarded for one semester.

     

    Monthly expenses

    Most foreign students say EUR 350-400 is sufficient to live a month (minus tuition fees). It really depends on how much you want to travel, but our nightclubs, pubs, museums and other attractions are cheaper than elsewhere in Europe. A daily menu at most restaurants will cost between 3 and 5 EUR, a ticket for the cinema-up to 6 EUR, 10 minutes on a local cart track-10-12 EUR.

    Visa Process to Study In Lithuania

    National Visa D (Study Purpose)

    A person who a student is arriving in the Republic of Lithuania to the successive full-time studies a higher education establishment operating in the Republic of Lithuania should apply for a multiple entry national visa D, which could be applied for only at Lithuanian Embassy.

    1. 1. Completed and signed the application form, 1 recent passport photo 35×45 colourful, with white background.
    1. 2.A legal travel document – passport (containing at least 2 blank pages, issued within the previous 10 years, its period of validity must exceed the validity period of the requested visa by at least six months).
    1. 3.Valid health insurance, covering the extent of stay, and its copy. The amount of medical insurance coverage – LTL 20 000 (EUR 5792, 40).
    1. 4.A confirmed Air ticket reservation.
    1. 5.Mediation letter from the higher educational institution in Lithuania.
    1. 6.Registration documentation of the educational institution in Lithuania.
    1. 7.Means of subsistence ( 150 EUR for every month of planned stay) in the Republic of Lithuania (minimum last 3 months original bank account statements/ pay slips etc.; in case of sponsorship – Affidavit of Sponsorship from parents/relatives and their bank account statements for minimum 3 months).
    1. 8.No Consular fee applied.

    Important information for student visa applicants

    • *Students/education advisors/agents are requested to strictly follow the below listed guidelines: Student visa applications are to be submitted personally.
    • *At the time of interview applicants should be able to motivate their purposes to study in Lithuania as well as acquaintance with the study programme. Non ability of an applicant to communicate in English may lead to visa rejection.
    • *All visa application supporting documents (air ticket reservation, travel insurance, financial documents etc.) have to be honest and valid. Visa application holding any fake/invalid document will lead to visa denial.
      • Air ticket booking itineraries are to be printed on travel agent/airlines letter head or printed from the website. The flight itinerary must show the details of the traveler, flight details, and confirmation number.
      • Cancelled air ticket reservations are considered invalid. Air ticket reservations will regularly be checked even after issuing visa, and if these are found cancelled, this may lead to cancellation of the visa, while informing airport authorities.
      • Financial papers like bank account statements/ bank certificates etc. are to be submitted in original.
    • *Student visa application processing time is 14 days, if additional consultation is not required.
    • *Education consultants/Agents found submitting forged documents will be blacklisted.
