    Aussie varsity offers 2 New Courses

    James Cook University (JCU), Australia, has introduced new Master’s of Global Development and Master of Data Science programmes as part of its College of Science and Engineering programmes.

    “Our students come from many backgrounds, promoting cultural and experiential diversity on campus. Considering our first visit to India, our new courses will open up opportunities for the students as well as assist them to grow in the field of Science and Engineering,” said Vignesh Vijayaraghavan, head of International Recruitment, JCU. Talking about the programmes, Neil Fraser, director, Data Science, James Cook University said, Clearly there is an unmet demand for data science and our research has helped us construct a curriculum which is industry certified. We also have launched our Masters of Global Development this year which is Australia’s first university-wide programme addressing the United Nations Global Development Goals.”

    The university also announced the International Student Merit Stipends (ISMS) Scholarship Programme that provides recipients with a secure income of A$700 every month throughout their degree. To be eligible, candidates should be high-achieving students from South and South East Asia, China, Africa and the Middle-East. Students entering postgraduate courses must have a GPA of at least 5.2 on a 7 point scale or 70% in their undergraduate tertiary study. Candidates intending to join an undergraduate programme must have a score equivalent to an ATAR of 88 or higher to qualify. To continue to be eligible for the scholarship, students must maintain a GPA of at least 5.0 throughout the duration of their programme.
